Shaping Colorado Communities with Excellence

At Sunrise Engineering, our commitment to excellence and community growth extends across the beautiful state of Colorado. With offices strategically located in Fort Collins and Steamboat Springs, and supported by our teams in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Vernal, Utah, we are proud to offer a range of municipal civil engineering and construction administration services. Additionally, our dedicated GIS team provides critical project management and mapping services, ensuring every project is executed with precision and care.

Innovative GIS Solutions for Colorado

Our GIS team, led by Dustyn Shaffer, PE, plays a pivotal role in supporting Colorado’s water systems. The expertise of Jarom Hlebasko and Michaela Adams was instrumental in securing our contract with WSP, the prime contractor for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Our team, which includes Andrew Davis, Jessica Mathews, Ross Petersen, Ty Evans, Marcus Romboy, and others, excels in delivering progress and management dashboards, conducting kickoff meetings with individual water systems, and providing comprehensive GIS mapping and data input.

One of our notable projects is the CDPHE Lead and Copper Rule (LCRR) compliance, where we work as a subconsultant to WSP. This project ensures communities comply with the EPA’s mandate to inventory all lead service lines, significantly impacting public health and safety. Despite the challenges of working as a subconsultant and coordinating resources across multiple service centers, our team’s dedication and collaborative spirit have driven us to success.

Engineering Excellence from Vernal

Aaron Averett, PE, leads our Vernal team, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to Colorado. Our work in Colorado mirrors the comprehensive services we offer in Utah, encompassing engineering, GIS, planning, funding assistance, and master planning. Key team members such as Kurtis Shawcroft and Rexford Carpenter have been vital in our water and wastewater projects.

Our projects range from the LCRR Lead Service Line inventory to a Master Plan for the Town of La Jara and various other communities. These initiatives address the pressing needs of aging water and wastewater systems in rural areas, ensuring sustainability and reliability. Despite the challenge of balancing local projects with the growing demands in Colorado, our team’s strategic planning and prioritization enable us to meet specific needs effectively.

Civil Engineering Leadership from Cheyenne

CJ Walker, PE, heads our Cheyenne team, bringing a client-focused approach to our Colorado projects. Our key team members including Cort Nickel and Tony Zook provide top-notch civil engineering and construction administration services. Recently, Tony Zook joined the Sunrise team to specialize in land development, adding significant value to our service portfolio.

We believe in the power of clear communication and meticulous planning. By understanding our clients’ expectations and preparing detailed Project Management Plans (PMP), we ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Our notable projects include the Hayden, Colorado business park, a transformative commercial development near the Yampa Valley Regional Airport, and various improvements in Steamboat Springs.

These projects not only bring economic growth and job opportunities but also enhance the quality of life for residents. However, post-COVID challenges such as supply chain disruptions have required us to adapt and innovate, ensuring we continue to deliver outstanding results.

Building a Better Colorado Together

At Sunrise Engineering, our work in Colorado is more than just a series of projects; it’s a commitment to building stronger, more resilient communities. From our GIS innovations to our engineering expertise, we are dedicated to addressing the unique needs of Colorado’s towns and cities. Together, we are shaping a brighter future, one project at a time.
