Nurturing Growth and Community: A Spotlight on Sunrise Engineering’s Las Vegas Office

History of the Las Vegas Office

In 2017, Sunrise Engineering responded to client demands by establishing the North Las Vegas office. Initially occupying a modest 3,000 square feet, the suite quickly expanded to 6,500 square feet in the same building due to the addition of GIS Mapping services in early 2018. The following years brought further growth until 2020, when the impacts of COVID-19 reshaped both our work environment and client needs. In 2021, we consolidated operations into a larger suite, still committed to serving our clients and exploring opportunities for expanding our traditional civil engineering services in the Las Vegas market.

The Las Vegas office has evolved significantly, with Southwest Gas being a key driver of its growth. Multifaceted services provided to Southwest Gas have played a pivotal role in shaping the office’s identity. Despite facing unique challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, the office thrived and contributed to the overall growth of Sunrise Engineering. In 2023, we expanded our workforce by over 40, securing a third-party inspection contract with Southwest Gas.

Las Vegas Office Employees

Beyond the physical office space, the Las Vegas footprint has extended far into the community. Our increased workforce and contracts with Southwest Gas have been integral to the company’s overall growth and success. The Las Vegas team embodies a strong sense of family values and holds a palpable respect for military and first responders, with several team members having served. This camaraderie fosters an environment grounded in gratitude, hard work, patience, and respect.

Every individual associated with the Las Vegas office plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to homes and businesses in the region. This commitment extends beyond the workplace, reinforcing our connection to the local community.

Survey Department

With a focus on construction staking, land boundaries, and mapping, the Survey Department is actively involved in significant projects such as construction staking for 30 miles of Interstate West of Blythe, CA. Another project with Clark County Public Works is slated for January 2024.

Natural Gas Design

The Natural Gas Design team, consisting of three members, offers diverse services, including scanning of old Southwest Gas documents, comprehensive Natural Gas design, and a current project involving a Three-D design for a pipeline replacement.

Natural Gas ISS

The Las Vegas office hosts 43 Natural Gas ISS employees, providing inspection, field data collection, damage prevention inspection, line locate inspections, and damage prevention investigation. Notable projects include support for Southwest Gas in their pipeline replacement project.

GIS

The GIS team, with 4 employees in the office and one at Southwest Gas’s office, primarily focuses on mapping and scanning services for Southwest Gas. The Southern Nevada Division mapping contract acted as a catalyst for the team’s expansion from 4 to 35 employees.

Training Services

While Training Services operates somewhat independently from the office, occasional classes are conducted in Las Vegas for the third-party inspector group. The team remains committed to maintaining project stability and excellence in training and evaluations.

In conclusion, the Las Vegas office of Sunrise Engineering stands as a testament to growth, adaptability, and community engagement. Through dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence, the Las Vegas team has not only met client demands but has also played a pivotal role in the overall success of Sunrise Engineering. As we continue to evolve, the Las Vegas office remains a vibrant hub of innovation, service, and community impact.
